POOL RECAP: WAS LUCK ON YOUR SIDE?
The 2014 playoffs were under way and we were only 5 minutes in when 83 teams
saw their double-digit salaried running back go down. Jamaal Charles (1 fantasy
point) was lost for the day with the dreaded concussion. The game concluded with
a post-season record 1,049 yards of offense and amazing second half comeback by
the Colts. The Colts' Andrew Luck, Donald Brown and T.Y. Hilton racked up the
fantasy points and the trifecta was on 5 of the top 6 entries. Luck threw for 443
yards and 4 touchdowns and scored a touchdown after recovering a fumble.
Donald Brown had over 100 yards from scrimmage and 2 touchdowns. T.Y. Hilton
had 13 catches for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hilton's 38 fantasy points topped
the Pool for week 1.
The Cadre All-Stars racked up 140.6 fantasy points to edge out the opening week
victory. Besides Luck, Brown and Hilton, Cadre's All-Stars got just enough
production for the victory. They got touchdowns from Riley Cooper and Zach Ertz,
while getting 81 yards on the ground from rookie Eddie Lacy. Team owners Stabile
and Cocchiola teamed up for the entries. Stabile's Purple Salamis finished 3rd in
the Pool in 2005 and Cocchiola won the Division Round prize in 2008 with GFY.
Luck was taken on only 34 entry sheets which ranked 11th amongst QBs. The only
entry without Luck that finished in the top 15 was Jerry Chech. Chech finished third
with Alex Smith at QB. Smith threw for 378 yards and 4 touchdowns. It was the
loss of Charles at RB that would seal the fate of Chech's entry.
