FANTASY PLAYOFF POOL RECAP:
POOL CHAMPION: A and S
A and S wins Fantasy Playoff Pool XII. A and S had 8 players active in SB44 and took the lead right
after the two minute warning and held on to win. At Quarterback was POOL MVP Drew Brees. Brees
threw for 732 yards with 8 TD pass and no interceptions in the postseason.
The wide receivers for A and S (Wayne, Garcon and Henderson) combined for 597 yards receiving
and 5 TDs. Tight End Jeremy Shockey added two more TDs. RB Reggie Bush broke out with a big
postseason scoring three TDs, including one on a punt return. His partner in the backfield, Addai, had
his best game of the postseason in the SB44 with 135 yards from scrimmage and a TD.
It was 17-yard catch from Addai that propelled A and S into the lead after the two-minute warning. A
and S had the Pool’s top-scoring kicker, Garrett Hartley, with 29 fantasy points. Hartley became the first
player to kick three 40+yard FGs in the Super Bowl. A and S also got production from their $3
defense. The Ravens’ D had 5 sacks and forced 5 turnovers.
2nd Place: GZAT
Runner-up GZAT had 5 players in common with the champ; (Brees, Bush, Garcon, Shockey and
Hartley). In addition, GZAT had Pierre Thomas at running back. Thomas scored 3 postseason TDs and
was tied with two others for top scorer at RB. For $5 at WR GZAT got 177 yards receiving and a TD
from Steve Breaston.
GZAT held the FPP top spot for 3 minutes and 46 secs in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl. GZAT
grabbed the lead with a Shockey TD with 5:46 remaining and yielded the lead to A and S at the 2-minute
mark. GZAT was let down by the New England defense which scored in the negative.
3rd Place: Ditoro
Third place went to DITORO. They were also the top team with no more than three players from the
same NFL team.
With a new $400 Special Prize on the line, 168 entries qualified by selecting no more than three
players from the same NFL team. DITORO lead the entire Pool from 9:40 remaining in the 2nd Quarter
of SB44 until 5:46 remaining in the game. DITORO had only the kicker (Hartley) in common with
champion A and S.
DITORO’s QB, Peyton Manning, was the 2nd highest scoring player in the pool. Peyton threw for
956 yards and 6 touchdowns. Both of DITORO’s RBs (Ray Rice and Tim Hightower) had 2 touchdowns.
Ray Rice rushed for 226 yards and was tied for highest scorer at RB (41 points). DITORO also had the
top scorer at WR, Sidney Rice (42 points). Sidney Rice had 4 TDs in the playoffs. Each of DITORO’s 3
WRs and TE had over 170 yards receiving; (Rice, Breaston, Cotchery and Dallas Clark)
It was a Hartley field goal with 9:40 remaining in the 1st half of SB44 that gave DITORO the lead
over MIKE FAZ. DITORO goes on to win the Special Prize by a double-digit margin. DITORO also
owned the 4th place finishing team.
