The 2020 Playoff Pool Championship came down to a battle between two teams:
ROTORIOUS and HUNTER. HUNTER entered SB54 in second place with Mahomes, Damien
Williams and Tyreek Hill playing. ROTORIOUS, also with Mahomes and Williams, had
Mostert and Kelce. Mahomes' touchdown run with 36 seconds remaining in the first
quarter gave HUNTER the lead in the pool. HUNTER held the lead until Mostert's TD run
with 2:32 reamaing in the third quarter which gave ROTORIOUS the Playoff Pool lead.
HUNTER wasn't done. HUNTER jumped back in the lead when Tyreek Hill caught a 44-yard
pass with 7:13 remaining in the game. That lead only lasted a few plays though as Travis
Kelce's TD catch with 6:13 remaining gave ROTORIOUS the lead for good.
The most notable players on the top two entries were:
QB Patrick Mahomes (Pool MVP). Mahomes threw for 901 yards, 10 touchdowns and 2
interceptions, while running for 135 yards and 2 scores. Mahomes was the highest scoring
QB ever in the pool and was on 18 of the top 19 entries. Mahomes was on the fewest
rosters out of the three QBs salaried in double-digits. Mahomes is only the second QB
with a double-digit salary to win the Pool (Cam Newton the other).
RB Damien Williams had 290 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns in the post
season. Williams is the only player, other than Mahomes, on each of the top two rosters.
Williams has 10 post-season touchdowns in the last two years and was on last year's Pool
Championship roster as well. Williams had the fewest selections of the $8+ running backs.
TE Travis Kelce had 19 catches for 207 yards and 4 touchdowns and outscored all other
tight ends by more than 30 fantasy points. Kelce had the second best fantasy point total
for a tight end ever in the pool and was on 5 of the top 6 rosters, including the Champions.
RB Derrick Henry had 83 carries for 446 yards in 3 post-season games. He ran for two
touchdowns and threw a TD pass. Henry was on 17 of the top 19 rosters entering SB54.
RB Raheem Mostert ran for 336 yards on 53 carries and scored 5 touchdowns. Mostert
was on 5 of the top 6 teams, including the Champions.
